The Oaklands is a registered charity with three residential bungalows providing care for adults with learning disabilities. One of the bungalows is designated for respite care and provides much valued support to many families every year. The other two bungalows provide long term care for our residents; their relatives are always made welcome and visit regularly.
We also have a Community Centre which after recent refurbishment is one of the top community facilities in this area; this is used by the puiblic and ourselves.
Both bungalows and the Community Centre have been awarded a 5 Star Excellent Award by the Environmental Health. The bungalows, following the recent inspection by Care Quality Commission, have been awarded an Excellent Certification; this is an award which is not given lightly.
On behalf of my fellow trustees I would like to thank; The Oaklands' managers: Brenda Bird - Residential Manager, Cheryl Nattriss and Dave Wint - Deputy Managers, Jill Robinson - Funding/Office Manager and Phil Pendered-Wright - Centre Manager for their professionalism and dedication to The Oaklands. I would also like to thank all the staff and volunteers for their hard work, excellent attitude and commitment to the residents, respite and each other. They are very special people who do magnificent work.
As trustees we feel honoured to be involved with The Oaklands and hope it continues to prosper.
Steve Lunn - Chairman - Executive Committee/Trustees
